ABOUT US

THE SPARK - A LOVE FOR COLD WATER

I’ve been an avid open-water swimmer for years, and for the past eight, I’ve swum right through the winter. I could never fully explain why I loved it so much – maybe it was the buzz, the sense of achievement, or just how fantastic I felt afterwards. No matter how cold it was, I always came out grinning.

But there was one thing I noticed: it took me much longer to warm up than my swim buddies.

THE SAUNA DISCOVERY

That got me curious, and eventually, I came across a brilliant book on winter swimming by Susanna Søberg. She talked about the health benefits of combining cold-water swimming with regular sauna use – including reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by up to 40%, and people who used a sauna 4–7 times per week had dramatically lower rates of fatal cardiovascular events compared to those who used it once a week or less.

That was all the inspiration I needed. I built a little sauna in my garden shed, and it quickly became part of my routine.

It wasn’t just about getting warm after a swim. Sauna sessions became a chance to switch off, slow down, and come out feeling calmer, happier, and more alive. I’m pretty sure it’s even helped me recover from injuries.

OUR JOURNEY TO WILDHEAT SAUNA

After experiencing how much it improved my own health and wellbeing, I couldn’t stop thinking about how great it would be to bring this to others.

Why not share this with other swimmers – and with anyone who wants to feel the same mental and physical boost I do?

And that’s how Wild Heat Sauna was born – a mobile sauna designed for open-water swimmers, cold therapy lovers, and anyone looking to relax, recover, and recharge.
